Channel Management

The Channel Manager gives you precise control over which Discord channels BestChatBot monitors and responds in.

The Channel Grid

When you open the Channel Manager, you’ll see a grid of all text channels in your Discord server. Each channel appears as a card showing:
  • The channel name (matching your Discord server’s channel names)
  • Whether the channel is enabled (active) or disabled (inactive)

Managing Channels

1

Open Channel Manager

Navigate to Channel Management from the dashboard sidebar.
2

Toggle Individual Channels

Click on any channel card to flip it between enabled and disabled. Enabled channels are visually highlighted.
3

Use Bulk Actions

For quick changes:
  • Select All:Enable the bot in every channel
  • Deselect All:Disable the bot everywhere
4

Changes Apply Immediately

Channel changes take effect right away. No rebuild is needed.
Unlike knowledge base changes, channel toggling is instant. The bot starts or stops responding in channels as soon as you toggle them.

Tips for Channel Strategy

Start Small

Begin with 1-2 channels to test the bot’s responses. Expand gradually as you’re satisfied with quality.

Separate Support Channels

Enable the bot in dedicated support or FAQ channels where questions are expected.

Avoid Chat Channels

General chat channels with casual conversation may not benefit from bot responses.

Review Regularly

As your server grows and adds new channels, revisit the Channel Manager to include them.

Channel Types

The Channel Manager only shows text channels. Other channel types are not supported:
Channel TypeSupported
Text channelsYes
Voice channelsNo
